Study: Men with high testosterone are less religious

Men with high testosterone levels are less likely to be RELIGIOUS, study claims

The analysis revealed that men with higher levels of the sex hormones testosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) in their bodies had weaker religious ties.

Dr Aniruddha Das, who led the study, said: “Religion influences a range of cultural and political patterns at the population level. Results from the current study indicate the latter may also have hormonal roots.

Those are some interesting claims but I think it really depends on where the subjects would come from for a study like this

It seems like a bit of a stretch but I'll agree just because I'm not religious

I can see the correlation. Higher androgen levels are associated with more "alpha male" behaviors. This would cause them to question authority, and let's be honest organized religion is a tool to control people. Alpha males don't want to be controlled. So that in turn makes them lose faith in religion.

I think of the example of my father, he was raised Catholic clear until his mid teens. My old man is definitely what I would consider an alpha male. When he started hearing about the priests messing with kids he questioned the whole religion and eventually left it. He still believes in God to this day but has lost all faith in religion. I guess when it comes down to it, any one who really looks around and sees the messed up stuff that's done in the name of religion would question it too.

I suppose as long as you keep God in your life somehow, you're good.

My T levels are through the roof, but I'm still humble enough to acknowledge the good lord here and there.

I'm very agnostic. Borderline atheist. I don't believe in much other then a path of right and wrong. I dont dislike authority whatsoever. I do believe you should be able to question it freely. I dig the read quite a bit though. Makes sense. Not sure if that applies to me though

By all means I acknowledge my belief in a single entity that created everything called God. Lately the big has been talking to me more in all honesty. I think every person can have a relationship with God outside of religion. I was just pointing out how I could see their extrapolation of the data.

I look at churches the way I look at people, you can feel it in the air when they are genuine and wholesome and vice versa.

      Same here bro.

I definitely feel like he wants us to listen and acknowledge him, but I don't feel that he pushes me to attend churches, etc. Even though I would like to begin regular church goings once I settle down in a community I'm happy in.
